Councilman Robert Mitchell, Charleston’s senior City Council member and Chair of the key Community Development Committee, is running for re-election in District 4. Flood Mitigation: Delivered major infrastructure improvements, including the Huger Street Pump Station and the planned Jackson Street drainage project, to alleviate chronic flooding in vulnerable areas.

Affordable Housing: Spearheaded affordable housing developments such as Grace Homes, James Lewis, Archer School, and Bridgeview Village, and advanced upcoming projects like Lowline affordable homes.

Community Revitalization: Played a leading role in transformative initiatives, including the Lowline, Union Pier, Courier Square developments, and Martin Park renovation with splash pad, ensuring growth that benefits residents while preserving Charleston’s character.

Experienced Leadership: As Chair of the Community Development and other committees, Mitchell is a respected consensus-builder with deep institutional knowledge of city government and a proven track record of success.
